10 SIGNS OF ‘PANDAS’ IN CHILDREN

PANDAS is an acronym for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Strep infections. It can affect children between the ages of 4 and 7 years. The conditions is believed to be triggered by an infection. Parents often describe the onset of symptoms as the day they “lost” their child. Typically the change is dramatic. Common symptoms include:

1. Vocal tics,
2. Obsessions,
3. Motor tics,
4. Behavioural regression,
5. Compulsions,
6. Anxiety,
7. Irritability,
8. Sleep disturbances,
9. Depression and emotional swings,
10. Changes in handwriting.
